- "Debbie Dogs" has helped over 5,000 pet parents train their dogs in the last eight years in Chicago. Most of her current students
are referrals from past students, Chicago area vets, and rescue organizations.
- Her studies in psychology at Hofstra University (NY), where she earned a four year BA degree, have played an integral part in her
understanding of dog behavior and training.
- She has been a member of the APDT for 8 years. The Association of Pet Dog Trainers is a professional organization of trainers
who are committed to becoming better trainers through education. They offer a unique opportunity for professional networking
and sharing of ideas through conferences, membership directory, newsletters, seminars, and daily trainer e-mail discussions.
- Debbie and her Boxer, Nigel, volunteer with a program called SIT STAY READ. The organization's mission is to improve literacy skills
and foster a love of learning by partnering SIT STAY READ therapy dog teams with children in Chicago area schools, libraries and community
facilities.
- Debbie was voted one of Chicago's "favorites" in the category Best Trainer/Training Class in the 2007 "Chicagoland Tails" Readers
Choice Awards.
We train puppies, adolescent dogs, senior dogs, shy dogs, fearful dogs, aggressive dogs, misbehaving dogs, shelter dogs. We work with dog behavior cases such as shy dogs, dogs with separation anxiety, dogs that are reactive on leash, dogs who are not friendly with other dogs, dogs who chew on inappropriate items, dogs who jump up, dogs who mouth their owners, dogs who pull on the leash, dogs who bark at people. We teach dog manners such as sit to greet people, walk politely on leash, come when called, stay when told, down when told, leave any item when told.
